Germany came in second with 287 million 863 thousand dollars, Iraq came in third with 234 million 700 thousand dollars, Ukraine came in third with 216 million 708 thousand dollars, and Romania came in fourth with 208 million 611 thousand dollars. India and Libya were the countries with the largest increases in exports in 2021. Exports to India climbed by 123 percent in 2021, reaching 69 million 158 thousand dollars from 31 million 55 thousand dollars in 2020. Fresh fruit and vegetable exports to Libya climbed from $10 million 34 thousand dollars in 2020 to $22 million 390 thousand dollars in 2021.
According to Nejdat Sin, President of the Mediterranean Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporters' Association, Turkey's fresh fruit, and vegetable exports grow year after year, contributing significantly to the country's economy. Sin added that despite the pandemic, they had achieved a significant performance as an industry and that this circumstance was accepted by industry representatives.
